Hi, I’m Karina Lubickaya, the person behind Pillow and Blanket.
I have been crocheting and knitting blankets for more than eight years. It started with one very crooked granny square throw that flared out on one side, and it turned into the habit of counting stitches at the end of every row. Since then I have finished 41 blankets and throws, and I still swatch before every single one of them, because a half-inch off in gauge is six inches off across a queen-size afghan.
Along the way I worked out the things patterns rarely spell out: which stitch actually suits a whole blanket, why a turning chain decides whether your edges stay straight, and why no yardage chart can tell you how many skeins to buy.

Every guide is written so that a first-time maker can follow it and an experienced one still finds the detail worth reading.
How I Decide What to Publish
Three rules. Numbers come from something checkable — a swatch I measured, a ball band I read, a skein I weighed — not from a rounded guess. Any guide that recommends a yarn or a kit says who it is wrong for as well as who it suits. And if a topic has nothing to add beyond what is already on a pattern page, it does not get written.
How This Site Pays for Itself
Two ways, and neither of them changes what ends up in a guide. The pages carry ads. Some yarn and kit links are affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Nothing is recommended because it pays better, and every guide names the cases where a product is the wrong choice. The full wording is on the affiliate disclosure page.
My Mission
I spent years unpicking rows to learn what a single paragraph could have told me. The point of this site is to hand you that paragraph before you start, so your first blanket finishes the width you planned.
New guides go up on Pinterest first. If something here did not work the way I said it would, tell me — that is how the fixes get made.
